Article 30: Vacations, Holidays and Leaves

I have advocated for changes in the Parental Leave clauses within the Collective Agreement. With the current negotiations we need to achieve harmonization of leaves in Article 30.08b related to paternity and adoption leave. As it stands now, women who give birth have longer leaves than people who adopt. Is there merit in the difference?

Which contract issue holds the highest priority for you.
a. Harmonized parental and adoption leave provisions
b. Being able to ‘pause’ tenure and/or reappointment considerations while on parental/adoption leave.
c. Receiving IMC (Income Maintenance Change) pay increases that reflect the province’s real inflation rate. (annual CPI of 4.2% as of Sept 30 source: Statscan)
d. Having compensation that is competitive with other universities in our Comparator Group.
